Dr S Chelvan
Dr Chelvan has an international reputation as an expert in the field of human rights and his work has helped change the way LGBT+ people’s asylum cases are assessed by the Home Office and United Nations.
As an Activist Lawyer, in the positive sense, he uses the law as a sword and shield to drive forward the protection needs of Queer Refugees he represents. As a storyteller and interpreter, he interprets his client’s story into the foreign language called the law with a vision to be the mouthpiece for those who know the words, but have no voice.

My identity drives my fire and passion to create positive change. Committed to public service, my visibility acts to inspire others. My ‘difference’ provides the tools to educate, inform and fight ignorance, discrimination, and hate.
