Charlie
What does your identity mean to you?
First and foremost, I am Me. My sexuality does not define me!
Perhaps that is a slight reaction to my frustration with the present gender labelling but then, if it helps the individual, so be it!
As I have got older and done the whole ‘gay thing’, both in Belfast in the 80’s and then in London, in the 90’s, I have come back to Meβ¦β¦Me, (a gay man).
Whether in my line of work, as a painter/decorator and sometimes surrounded by macho males or, in my biggest passion of scuba diving, all over the world, I remain true to myself. I have always had a favourable reaction if I ever had to reveal my ‘gay card’.
To thine own self be true.
