Spencer

Last year Spencer completed a Butchery apprenticeship which he believes is one of the best things he’s ever done. He confessed that it’s easy to be your own saboteur and assume that you don’t fit the norm of what a certain role can look like. He would never have considered himself a β€˜Butcher’ in the stereotypical sense, but he found the confidence to try it out. Outside of work, Spencer enjoys spending time in the kitchen and attending as many Pride events as possible with his friends.

What does your identity mean to you?

My identity as part of the LGBTQIA+ community is really important to me. It shows that our differences can be really special and make us unique. I think now more than ever, it’s important to stand loud and proud in the face of adversity. The fight for equality is not over. Until everybody in the community is equal, none of us are equal.
