The IDENTITY Project

Carli, London, UK

Carli

Carli spent 10 years in Cabaret as a dancer, and she still continues to teach dance alongside her current job as a supermarket assistant.

She is now married to a wonderful woman, and they have a young son together.

When Carli was growing up, gay marriage wasn’t legal, and she never saw representation of couples and families like the one she has now. Changes in the law now mean she can live life as she wants, and says that to be a mum and living that life now, is incredible.

What does your identity mean to you?

My identity is just one part of me. It doesn’t define or dictate, although I am still proud of it. It simply describes who I love and what a wonderful thing that is that we get to do.
