The IDENTITY Project

Sam, Seahaven, UK

Sam Warren

With a wonderful LGBTQ family – 3 generations of lesbians and a gay son – family is a huge part of Sam’s identity. She is a protector, supporter and, she hopes, a role model for them. With 2 biological children, an adopted son and 3 step children, two daughters in-laws and 6 grandchildren, she considers them all amazing.

What does your identity mean to you?

For me, being a lesbian is fundamentally part of who I am. I don’t feel like I felt the stereotype of lesbian and that can make me feel invisible in my community at times. I’m passionate about supporting and advocating for all LGBTQ+ people especially in the current climate where human rights seem to be going backwards.
